My pieces in this exhibition depict a variety of emotions, from black and brown figures. I strive to have the viewer walk away from my work seeing black and POC people in a different light.
Mariah is a portrait artist who lives in St. Paul, MN. Her passion for drawing and painting began when she was a child. The love of oil paint began in college, with inspirations from artists such as John Singer Sargent, Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald. Mariah hopes to convey not only powerful depictions of black people and POC but soft, sad, happy and intimate emotions of those people throughout her paintings.
Mariah has showcased her work throughout the past two years at different locations for the St. Paul Art Crawl. Her works have been shown on WCCO and FOX 9 Good Day..
