Are you ready to help us celebrate the threads of humanity that unite us? Now in its sixth year, Solidarity Street Gallery invites visual artists of all backgrounds—local, national, emerging, and established—to submit work for a uniquely vibrant exhibition along Payne Avenue, St. Paul, MN, from October 10-12, 2025.

Theme: 'We Belong Together'

This year’s theme, 'We Belong Together,' challenges artists to explore and illuminate the essence of belonging, togetherness, and shared experience. We are seeking artworks that go to the heart of our shared humanity and its enduring desire to belong—finding meaning and identity in the communities we build, and assembling a tapestry of empathy, mutual respect, and lived stories that transcend boundaries of race, culture, or origin.

 

We encourage submissions that invite viewers to look beyond their own “tribe” and embrace a broader, more inclusive community—one that enriches individual lives and fortifies society.  We are looking to assemble an exhibition that reflects the profound strength, innovation, and creativity that diversity brings, while acknowledging that our nation’s ongoing story is woven from many threads—each contributing to the success and promise of this country we all treasure.

Eligibility

This call is open to all visual artists—whether you are local or national, emerging or established. There are no submission or exhibition fees. All artworks must be original creations by the submitting artist. We welcome a broad range of media and formats, including:

• Paintings, drawings, illustrations, prints, digital works, and photographs

• Sculpture, from table-top pieces to outdoor/sidewalk installations

• Handcrafted artifacts and objects of cultural heritage

• Motion picture shorts

• Site-specific projects, performances, lectures and panel discussions

Exhibition Format

Selected works from the public Call for Art will be featured in a range of venues, including galleries and storefront windows across more than 20 locations along Payne Avenue, transforming 5–6 blocks into a walkable “Street Gallery.” This format connects the artists and artworks with diverse audiences who may not otherwise have access to high-quality art and insight into the artistic process.  It also energizes the Payne Avenue commercial district, by involving local business owners in the arts and cultural celebration.

In addition, 12-15 renowned artists will be invited and featured in curated gallery exhibitions, with a chance for public submitters to be invited into this special selection.

Jurying Process

Our Artistic Advisory Board—a diverse group of respected artists, gallerists, educators, and arts managers—will review all submissions and select works that best embody the spirit of “We Belong Together.”

• Submission deadline: Monday, August 25, 11:59 PM CST

• Acceptance notifications: By September 8

• Artwork delivery deadline: October 1 to 967 Payne Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55130

• Exhibition Opening + Artist Reception: Friday, October 10, 5-9 pm

• Exhibition dates: October 10–12, 2025
